Company profile
SWANTEC (Scientific Welding And
Numerical TEChnology) was founded
on 1 June 1999 as a spin-off private limited company
resulted from many years research and development in resistance
welding and metal forming at the Technical
University of Denmark (DTU) .
The core business of SWANTEC is to develop and commercialize professional
welding software for simulation and optimization of resistance welding
and related processes, as well as to provide consulting service
to manufacturing industry. SWANTEC is always in the front line of
technology with a unique competence in welding expertise and an
innovative approach to resistance welding.
The company is located at the Science Park Scion-DTU
in Lyngby, 10 km north of Copenhagen (find
us on map).
Mission:
To advance technology and ensure weld quality for industrial applications
of resistance welding.
Vision:
To be the world leader in professional welding software for resistance
welding.
To be the well-known and competent experts in the field of resistance
welding.
History:
1988: With many years background in metal forming
and upon requests of industry, the research in resistance projection
welding started at the Technical University of Denmark with the
first PhD project.
1994-1997: National Materials Research Program
MUP2 financed by the Danish Technical Research Council with a
consortium of four partners: Danfoss A/S, Grundfos A/S, FORCE
Institute (the Danish Welding Institute) and the Technical University
of Denmark. This initiated systematic research on resistance projection
welding with four sub-projects including: Complex geometry and
material combinations; Electrode degradation and lifetime; Welding
machine characteristics; and Numerical modeling.
1997-2000: TALENT Project financed by the Danish
Technical Research Council on numerical modeling of resistance
welding. The numerical models were further developed and systematically
verified, which were packed into a new software system named SORPAS®.
1999: Spin-off private company SWANTEC Software
and Engineering ApS established for development and commercialization
of simulation software for resistance welding.
¤ SORPAS® registered as trademark of SWANTEC.
2000: First license of SORPAS® sold to Danfoss
A/S.
¤ The 1st International Seminar on Advances in Resistance
Welding organized by SWANTEC and JOM Institute in Copenhagen,
Denmark.
¤ SORPAS® exhibited for the 1st time at the EURO-BLECH
fair in Hannover, Germany.
2001: First license of SORPAS® sold to Germany
followed by France and other EU countries.
¤ SORPAS® exhibited for the 1st time at the Essen Welding
Exhibition in Essen, Germany.
2002: SORPAS® exhibited for the 2nd time
at the EURO-BLECH fair in Hannover, Germany.
¤ The 2nd International Seminar on Advances in Resistance
Welding organized by SWANTEC and ISF-RWTH in Aachen, Germany.
2003: ARO S.A. appointed as distributor of SORPAS®
in France.
2004: First license of SORPAS® exported to
North America and Asia.
¤ Huys Industries Ltd. appointed as distributor of SORPAS®
in North America.
¤ SORPAS® exhibited for the 3rd time at the EUROBLECH
fair in Hannover, Germany.
¤ The 3rd International Seminar on Advances in Resistance
Welding organized by SWANTEC and BAM in Berlin, Germany.
2005: SORPAS® exhibited for the 2nd time
at the Essen Welding Exhibition in Essen, Germany.
¤ I S Korea Ltd. appointed as distributor of SORPAS®
in Korea.
2006: Sumisho Computer Systems Corp. (SCS) appointed
as distributor of SORPAS® in Japan.
¤ National research project INNOJOINT on numerical modeling
of resistance and friction stir welding financed for 4 years (2006-2010)
by the Danish Technical Research Council with a consortium of
five departments from DTU and SWANTEC as the sole industrial partner.
¤ The 4th International Seminar on Advances in Resistance
Welding organized by SWANTEC and Fronius in Wels, Austria.
2007: EU research project XPRESS financed by
the European Commission for 4 years (2007-2010) involving 17 partners
from 9 European countries aiming at developing flexible production
experts for reconfigurable assembly technology in 3 representative
industrial sectors (automotive, aeronautics and electrical). SWANTEC
is participating as industrial partner responsible for welding
simulations. Further information can be found at the website:
www.xpress-project.eu.
2008: The 5th International Seminar on Advances
in Resistance Welding organized by SWANTEC and Huys in Toronto,
Canada.
2009: Shanghai Infomass Information Technology Co., Ltd. (上海信聚信息技术有限公司) has been appointed as the representative of SWANTEC for distribution of SORPASŪ in China.
